I was enjoying the company of friends talking about how fast the rest of the summer was going to go. How I was running out of Friday/Saturday/Sunday’s to fit in all those I wanted to see.
As we talked I shared that I was finally delivering the last of my 2020 Christmas presents the next weekend. That got us talking about Christmas plans for 2021.
That conversation brought into my awareness that Christmas 2021 was indeed just around the corner!
Seriously, when did that happen?
How is it that this year is already approaching the last quarter?
Even in a year where for almost 6 months there wasn’t much to do but stay home, I still can’t believe that it is basically September.
I cannot believe that we have reached the September long weekend, back to school shopping is almost done and we will once again head into the fall season!
Is it just me, or does the world seem to move at a faster pace? Is it something that happens as you get older? I mean 12 months when I was 6 was such a big percentage of my life 1/6. But 12 months when I’m 46 is a blink. 1/46 of my life! Is this why life seems to move so fast?
Or does it feel fast because the number of hats that I wear has increased since I was 6? With those hats is increased responsibility. Maybe all the responsibility is what makes the year move so fast.
Regardless of why the year seems to move at lightning speed, I am thankful I have my processes in place. Without them, I know that I would drop so many balls. Each week would be over before I could even think about the next steps.
I am thankful, that I know what to work on each month, week and day so that I can move almost as fast as life.
I may be surprised that it is September, but my goals are on track because I knew what I had to do each and every week! I kept those goals moving while still enjoying a very full life.
That to me is a success: Living and enoying life, while still achieving my goals!
How do you handle the speed of life? Do you hang on and just enjoy the ride or do you have a system that works for you?
